About us

Looking through trees, with a pond in the background.

We are a friendly Meeting with around 9-12 people who come in person at 10.30am on a Sunday morning.

We hold blended Meetings on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of each month; this allows people to also join the Meeting online, via Zoom.

For more information on any of our activities, contact our Clerk, Andy Vivian, on clerks@forestofdeanquakers.org or fill in the Contact Us form.

Shared lunch

We have a shared lunch after Meeting, usually when it is the 5th Sunday of the month. Come and join us!

Children's' Meeting

We hold a Children's' Meeting on the last Sunday of each month. We usually start with short story, followed by a craft-based or activity response.

Experiment with Light

We hold a regular online Experiment with Light Meeting, twice a month on Wednesday afternoons.  Experiment with Light is a Quaker practice which is based on early Friends’ discoveries.  It was devised in 1996 by Quaker and theologian Rex Ambler following his study of early Friends’ writings. He wanted to discover what it was that made them so sure, so centred, so willing to suffer privations to keep alive their faith. More information on the main Experiment with Light website.

Roles

Quaker roles are normally held for around three years.

The Elders are Dorothy Cardus and Derek Couzens.
Pastoral Friends are Anne Childs, Keith Coupland and Prisca Freeman.
The Clerk is Andy Vivian.
